Our view
The hook of “Velocity” grips at once, and Koontz keeps the plot twisting. A man in his thirties in Napa County is threatened out of nowhere by an anonymous adversary and decides to deal with the matter himself, outside the law. Not all readers think the book keeps every promise of that opening; some see the culprit coming early and dislike the final twist.

About the book
Velocity is a novel by Dean Koontz first published in 2005. Set in Napa County, California, it is about a man in his thirties who takes the law into his own hands when, out of the blue, he is threatened by an anonymous adversary. The "words of wisdom" with which the novel is interspersed are direct quotations from the writings of T. S. Eliot.
