Our view
“Under a White Sky” is a fascinating, clear-eyed look at the fixes humans devise for the damage done by earlier fixes. Elizabeth Kolbert builds each chapter around a different case and explains it in plain, accessible terms, following on from “The Sixth Extinction”. Some readers find the topics uneven and certain descriptions needlessly graphic. Anyone wanting a concrete sense of where environmental repair is heading will find it illuminating.
