“Two Twisted Crowns” ends the duology by widening its view from one heroine to several narrators whose strands converge. The change gives the kingdom and its side characters more room, though readers attached to Elspeth’s voice may at first feel they have opened a different story. Dark, romantic and built around a quest for the last of the magic cards, it has to follow “One Dark Window”.
