Our view
“The Son” is a hard-edged, absorbing stand-alone crime novel in which Jo Nesbø proves he does not need Harry Hole to hold attention. Some readers praise its pace, and others warm almost at once to its protagonist, Sonny. Because it stands alone, it also makes a good first Nesbø for readers not ready to commit to a long series.
