Our view

“The Magic Faraway Tree” is an inventive children’s classic in which new magic lands turn up at the top of an enchanted tree. In this second book of the series, a reluctant cousin comes to stay and meets Moonface, Silky the fairy and Saucepan Man alongside the children. Some readers who return to it as adults are disappointed that the boys lead the adventures while the girls are cast as the ones needing protection.

Will it be the Land of Spells, the Land of Treats, or the Land of Do-As-You-Please? Come on an amazing adventure! First published in 1943, this edition contains the original text. Inside illustrations are by Jan McCafferty, and the cover by Mark Beech (2014).
