Our view

“The Lost Gate” opens the “Mither Mages” trilogy with a quick-moving tale of a boy who discovers a magic he must hide. Danny North is raised among mages believing he has no gift, and is treated as worthless for it; the talent he finally finds is one that gets its bearers killed. Some readers praise the story above all. A good choice for anyone drawn to old gods living on as families of mages.
