Our view
“The Institute” is strongest in the bond among its abducted children as they face what is being done to them. Twelve-year-old Luke Ellis wakes in a facility for children with psychic gifts, but King opens with a long stretch about a seemingly unrelated man, which some readers find a slow way in. After that some cannot put the book down, while others stay detached from the characters to the end.
