Our view

“The Diamond of Darkhold” is a warm and satisfying conclusion to “The City of Ember” series. Jeanne DuPrau brings the story back to Lina and Doon and to the hardships of life in a new world. Some readers rate it well above “The Prophet of Yonwood” and are glad of the way the series ends. Young readers who followed the earlier volumes will want to see it through.
