Our view
“The BFG” is Roald Dahl at his most inventive and affectionate: a quick, funny adventure in which the giant’s scrambled way of speaking supplies most of the jokes. Some readers stumble over that invented dialect, and adults coming to it fresh may be less enchanted than children. It is a fine pick for young readers moving on to their first chapter books.
