Our view
More than a century on, “Tarzan of the Apes” is still pulp adventure at its liveliest: physical, eventful and easy to enjoy. Burroughs follows his hero across many years without the story feeling patchy, and some readers grow as attached to the animals as to the people. Others relish the fights in the jungle and find that knowing the character already only adds to the fun.
