Our view
“Slow Horses” is a spy novel that takes its time and makes the wait worthwhile. Mick Herron spends the early chapters introducing a team of disgraced MI5 officers stuck in dead-end desk work, groundwork that makes the later tension count and prepares the rest of the Slough House series. Some readers find the opening slow. A good choice for those who read espionage for its characters.
