Emily Henry writes friends-to-lovers with real warmth, and Poppy and Alex are easy company, amusing and touching by turns. The slow burn is slow in earnest: across 480 pages some readers find that the flashbacks to earlier trips drag in the middle before the final stretch pulls everything tight again.
