A couple who have quietly broken up must keep playing the part among their closest friends, and Henry draws real ache from that pretence. The break itself comes from things left unsaid, which some readers find true to life but frustrating to watch, and some warm more to the friendship storyline than to the romance. It has more depth than most of its genre, though a few find it easy to put down.
