Our view
In “Happy-Go-Lucky”, David Sedaris stays funny while writing frankly about his father and the last few years. Some readers value that candour as much as the laughs and find him more reflective here; others find the collection too dark. The chapter on his father draws a sharper objection: to some it makes light of what happened and is unkind to his sister.
