Our view

“Echopraxia” is idea-driven hard science fiction, a dark companion to “Blindsight” that takes on the question of free will. Some readers prefer it to the first book for its lighter load of technical description; others feel its concepts are poorly laid out and too much is left open, and find the ending weak. Its characters prove to be tied to the earlier crew, which makes it a novel for those who already know that story.
