Our view
“Drums of Autumn” is a long, richly written fourth Outlander novel that many readers find slow in stretches. Some praise how completely Gabaldon’s world draws them in, and some single out the chapters in which Claire and Jamie build a home in the American wilderness as its best. Others are not convinced by Brianna and Roger’s relationship. At over nine hundred pages, it belongs to readers already committed to the series.
