Our view
“Dark Lover” launches “Black Dagger Brotherhood” with a brooding vampire world and a romance that wastes no time. Wrath, the Brotherhood’s leader, must guide a young woman who knows nothing of her origins, and the pull between them drives the book. Readers who prefer love stories to develop slowly may find this one hasty; those who take to its mood have a long series ahead.

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn’t there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of the Brotherhood and blood frighten her. Yet his touch ignites a dawning new hunger—one that threatens to consume them both.... INCLUDES A LETTER FROM J. R. WARD
