Our view
The third Dune novel is carried by its dialogue: almost every conversation is a duel, tense and hard to predict. Herbert leans heavily on prescience, and some readers find parts of the plot opaque until the final chapters make sense of them; the book also grows stranger than its predecessors as it goes. It rewards readers who finished the first two volumes and want the beliefs behind the saga examined more closely.
