Our view
“Cabal” is a strange, inventive horror novella in which Clive Barker turns a chosen-one story inside out. He packs a great many themes into a short book, sending his hero, Boone, on a dark journey of his own. Some readers wish it were longer, with more room for its ideas, and find its sex scenes poorly done. It is a good way to see Barker at shorter length.
