Our view
“Airman” is a well-built adventure of conspiracy, revenge and the dream of flight, set among islands in the nineteenth century. Eoin Colfer steps away from fantasy here, and the shape of his plot reminds some readers of “The Count of Monte Cristo”. Though published for young readers, it has enough craft and character to hold an adult. It suits anyone who likes a classic adventure told with care.
