Charles Bukowski
Charles Bukowski — 3 titles in the rankings, first published between 1971 and 1994. They average 7.6, below the 7.8 the whole catalogue averages.
Editor’s note German-born American poet and novelist of the Los Angeles underside: drinking, gambling, bad jobs and worse relationships, written in blunt, funny, unadorned prose. His novels follow his alter ego Henry Chinaski. Post Office, his first and most read, draws on his years delivering and sorting mail; Factotum, which rates just as well, follows Chinaski drifting from one menial job to the next. Pulp, his last novel, is a deliberately shambolic detective parody and rates lower. Much of his work is poetry with too few ratings here.
