Murderbot 系列的第三部中篇，保留了這個系列最大的魅力：冷面又焦慮的敘事者。這位敘事者只想躲開人類，卻總是被捲進麻煩。這次的冒險中規中矩，但有讀者覺得模式與上一集太像，有些場面不容易想像，整體像是過場的一集，主線幾乎沒有推進。全書僅176頁，適合已經在追這個系列的讀者，不適合當作入門。
值得一提 殺手機器人系列第三部中篇（2018年）把那個駭掉自己管制模組的保全單元送到米魯，一座灰堡公司倉促棄置的地球化改造平台，去尋找公司在那裡真正所作所為的證據；那正是曼薩博士從第一集起就需要的證據。在平台上它遇見米奇，一個被它的人類當作朋友對待的人形機器人，整本書講的是殺手機器人看著這一切卻不知如何自處。約160頁，一次短短的任務，結局不好。瑪莎・威爾斯2017年以《系統全紅》開啟這個系列，全系列2021年獲雨果獎最佳系列，中篇要按順序讀。
