“Pretty hard to review this book. To me, it tries to do too many things at once or trying to please too many audiences; the ideas are good but the execution is so-so. The world-building is intriguing with a pleasant amount of bizarre/disturbing creatures. However, the characters are bland and the whole book reads similar to a mystery/detective story rather than a fantasy novel. Still a good book nonetheless, I just wish it was more epic/high fantasy rather than urban fantasy...”
