O fim do mundo como reality show de masmorras, com um homem e o gato de sua ex-namorada: a ideia é barulhenta, sombria e engraçada. Só que a narrativa funciona como um videogame, interrompida sem parar por estatísticas de feitiços, descrições de itens e avisos de conquistas. Quem gosta de mecânicas de jogo vai se divertir; quem se cansa delas, ou não tolera humor grosseiro e violência exagerada, deve procurar outra leitura.
Vale saber Matt Dinniman publicou-o primeiro em folhetim no Royal Road em 2020 e em edição de autor no mesmo ano; o audiolivro lido por Jeff Hays tornou-o um êxito de boca em boca, e a Ace reeditou a série em papel em 2024. É LitRPG: a história segue regras de videojogo, com ecrãs de estatísticas e caixas de saque, e é muito mais divertida do que a premissa sugere. O oitavo livro, A Parade of Horribles (2026), está entre as novidades mais bem avaliadas deste site.
