“I don't really know what to do here. The book was objectively good. I just feel like I got suckered. It was tagged as cozy scifi, so it immediately put me in the mind of Monk and Robot, which I adore, but that's not what I got. I thought maybe the misunderstanding was my own because I don't often read the backs of books, I go on friend recommendations and vibes (and believe it or not, it works out pretty dang well for me most of the time). “ I genuinely do not get the review-bombing hate on this novella. I don't pretend to have great taste and I'm not really a snob about a lot of the issues other reviewers are complaining about, but I know what I like, and I really liked Automatic Noodle. This is probably an unhelpful review, because I have zero notes. If you want a "cozy", fun, quick read, and are actually willing to let your disbelief be suspended instead of nitpicking themes or judging the author on her Goodreads bio (really guys?), then I'd recommend checking this one out. :) ”
“A wholesome story of of robots running a noodle shop in post-war San Francisco. It was somewhat engaging though seemed a bit skewed towards the younger audience except for a few occasional swear words. The author does touch on topics like war, violence, guilt, cyber bullying, body dysmorphia, and a few others in a way that can help parents to have a conversation with their kids if it’s read to them or with them. That alone makes it stand out as an above average read.”
